Beyond the visible - Hilma af Klint

GER 2018, 93 Min.

The first abstract artist was a woman: misjudged and concealed, Hilma af Klint rocks the art world with her mindblowing oeuvre. A hundred years later she is the biggest discovery who is attracting millions of people worldwide.

But how can an artist discover abstraction by the beginning of the 20th century and nobody is noticing? Hilma af Klint was a pioneer at a time where just male colleagues were inventing abstraction. The first solo-exhibition of her work caused an outcry in the art world: 'Art history has to be rewritten'! Hilma af Klint painted her first abstract painting in 1906, four years before Vassily Kandinsky. But why was she ignored? Why are her paintings not available on the market? Even nowadays the MoMA New York refused to show her paintings.

Focusing on af Klint’s ignored part as a pioneer of modern art, this first film on her is about her life, the role of women in art history and the discovery of an art scandal. This is a cinematic approach to an artist whose seek for meaning in life and a boundless thinking led into an outstanding oeuvre. Her paintings crossed borders to last until today.

A little suicide

D, 2012, 10 min.

In this world life does not hold anything good for a cockroach. Trying to kill himself, on this very day, the little insect is surprised by all the human kindness, which is given to him. A LITTLE SUICIDE is a ride for the senses, giving a glimpse into the strange and large world of humans from the vantage point of a little cockroach. They say you don’t know a man till you’ve walked a mile in his shoes… well, you certainly don’t know a cockroach till you spent a day in his little shoes- especially if it’s the day he intends to commit a little suicide.

D.O.D.O.

D, 2012, 15 min.

This is a charming story about living and neighborhood in a typical Berliner "Kiez".

The film takes you to a very special, enchanting place in the middle of a typical Berliner “Kiez“(which is dialect for a small district where everybody knows each other): The wonderful world of DODO. In loving fancywork Dodo is making beautiful accessories and handbags while the whole neighborhood is taking care and snow into her everyday life.

This is a story about “true neighborhood” and how it can change your life.
